I was in Phuket for my birthday on May 4th. During my birthday I got burnt to a crisp in the sun. My shoulders sting like somebody put hot frying pans on them. My face is so red, it looks as though I am a tomato. I did have a lot of fun. We went to the beach, the pool, the sauna and the jacuzzi.
The resort we are staying at is very nice. It is in walking distance of the beach, has a rooftop pool and as I said, a sauna and a jacuzzi.
For dinner I went to Mama Tris. It is a fancy restaurant on the ocean with exceptional food and they give out roses to the ladies at the end of the meal.
At the beach, the waves were so big. When I got caught in a wave, I got flip around and I couldn’t breathe. It was worse than it sounds. It is a horror show when you get caught in any wave. The ocean is warm though. The sauna is herbal scented and very, very hot. Then right after you go in to the jacuzzi and you cool off.
The temperatures in Thailand are very different then in cold, cold Canada. In Canada, we bath in maple syrup, we are all lumberjacks and we say sorry for no reason. (Those are all the Canadian stereotypes). They do none of that here. In Thailand, the temperature is around 35 degrees Celsius. In Canada, the temperature is anywhere from -15 degrees Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius. I have to go put some aloe vera on my shoulders and face. Bye.
I sadly have no pictures right now, I will look to find some and post them later.
Glad your birthday was a happy one. I miss not being with you on your big day but we will still have a celebration when you return home. It sounds like Phuket is a pleasant change after the hussel and bussel of Hong Kong and Bangkok .Take care not to get too much sun!
Grandpa
Happy, happy birthday, darling. It sounds and looks ( from Mom’s pics) like you had a fine day. Take care of that sun burn. Remember you are a lot closer to the sun there than in our Canada’s lovely spring. Grandma
Hey Meg,
Your dad told me that you got the birthday wishes from both myself and Grandma Sis and so I won’t repeat myself here. Regarding the sunburn…..ouch! I feel it for you. I think you are taking the right approach using aloe vera, it is known as a good burn healer. Grandma Sis is sorry that her computer is down and she is not able to respond personally. I do let her read the postings from you guys on my computer though.
Love
Auntie Toby
