Sales people can be very aggressive sometimes in Canada. Then you go to Hanoi and you see how aggressive sales people can actually be. I got asked to put a pole basket on my shoulder, and I also got somebody to put it on my shoulder. The con part of that is that they say to “try” it on, then they charge you for it. The lady that put it on my shoulder wouldn’t back off so I had to push her away. I have to say it felt good. Also a man grabbed my arm and yanked it. The reason being he wanted to ask if I wanted a moterbike ride. I swear you have to yell in the con’s/sales people’s, “NO!”. I did that a couple times too.
I went on a tour of Hanoi. The program was called Hanoi Kids. It was very cool. The kids are from college and they are practising their English. They knew almost everything. One downside(not their fault) it was so humid and hot. We went to the beautiful Temple of Literature. Again: Very HOT!
My dad overheard a western tourist girl buying a couple fried donuts on the street. The lady said it costed 150,000 dong(20,000 Dong= 1 Canadian Dollar). My dad asked our tour guides how much it should cost and told the tourist to wait a second. Our tour guides talked to the seller in Vietnamese and she lowered her prices to 50,000 Dong. One tourguide said they don’t pay more than 15,00 Dong. My con detector was going off.
I have to go to a cooking class now.
I will post pictures later.
